Searching the Kerr County Court Docket
Start with the Kerr County Odyssey Public Access portal. It is the county's central index of cases and parties. The landing screen splits Civil, Family, and Probate Case Records from Criminal Case Records. It also lists jail, jail bond, law enforcement, and incident records. Those four are not a court docket. Match your search to the actual court case. A case number helps if you have one.
One index line is never the whole story. Kerr County also posts separate PDF setting lists. They cover district civil and family matters, arraignments, sentencing, jail settings, jury trials, show-cause hearings, probate, guardianship, and County Court at Law events. Want a filing image or a certified copy? Go to the District Clerk or County Clerk. The portal index alone will not hand you the full file.
- Open the county portal and select the correct court-record category.
- Search by case number, or use the party name with a date range.
- Verify the court, county, filing year, and case type.
- Compare any hearing entry with the matching official docket PDF.
- Call the clerk to confirm a near-term setting or request a certified copy.
Kerr County Docket Record Categories
That category screen exists to stop a common mistake. Someone can turn up in a jail or incident result even though nothing has been filed in court. For pleadings, hearings, and dispositions, the court categories are the right start. If the portal redirects or stalls, an older county endpoint may linger in official links. Calling the clerk is the safer fallback.
| Category | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Civil, Family, and Probate | Case indexes and public activity | Protected filings may not appear |
| Criminal Case Records | County and district criminal cases | Not a statewide history |
| Jail or Bond | Custody and bond facts | Not a disposition |
| Law Enforcement or Incident | Agency records | Different custodian |
The county public-records hub sends judicial cases, land records, county minutes, and sheriff records to separate sources.
Inside a Kerr County Court Docket
A Kerr County court docket tracks procedure, not outcomes. Expect to find the parties, the court, filed papers, and scheduled events. A disposition may appear, but every term carries a precise meaning. An arraignment is a stage, nothing more. A jury-trial listing is a setting, not a verdict. A continuance just moves an event; the case stays alive. Always read the event date beside the filing date. Otherwise an old entry can masquerade as the next hearing.
| Case Number | District felony numbers begin with A or B; county misdemeanors use CR. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Names tied to the action, subject to privacy limits and false matches. |
| Filings | Dated motions, notices, orders, returns, and other papers. |
| Settings | Date, event type, court, and sometimes judge or room. |
| Disposition | The recorded outcome, read from the actual entry or order. |
No official source spells out a full year and sequence pattern for Kerr County case numbers. Treat the prefixes as routing clues only, never as a basis for building a complete case code.
Kerr County Docket Terms
Kerr County sorts its calendars by event type, so a PDF's title is part of the record itself. It tells you why the case appears on a list. It never tells you the final result.
- Setting
- A scheduled event that may later move or be canceled.
- Arraignment
- A criminal stage involving formal charges and a plea, not guilt.
- Show cause
- A hearing asking why the court should not take a stated action.
- Pretrial
- A setting used to address issues before trial.
- Sentencing
- A sentence proceeding; check the case record for the disposition.
Other lists cover bench trial, contested motion, motions review, jail docket, probate, guardianship, civil jury, and family settings. Give staff the exact title when you call. That way they pull up the same list you're reading.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Kerr County
No single Kerr County clerk holds every file. The District Clerk keeps papers from the 198th and 216th Judicial District Courts. Those courts cover felony, district civil, and family matters. The County Clerk holds County Court at Law and constitutional County Court records. It also keeps county misdemeanors, probate, and guardianship. Under current instructions, County Court at Law civil filings route through the District Clerk.
| Court | Docket covers | Route |
|---|---|---|
| 198th and 216th District Courts | Felony, civil, and family | Odyssey, PDFs, District Clerk |
| County Court at Law | Misdemeanor and county-level cases | Docket lists and relevant clerk |
| Constitutional County Court | Probate and guardianship | County Clerk |
| Justice Courts 1 through 4 | Fine-only cases and civil claims within limits | Named precinct |
| Kerrville and Ingram Municipal Courts | City Class C and ordinance matters | City court |
The 198th also serves Bandera County, and the 216th serves Gillespie County. So a Kerr County case can carry a setting outside Kerrville, especially while local facilities are under repair.
Kerr County Docket Custody
Think of the Kerr County District Clerk as registrar, recorder, and custodian for district papers. A felony or district family record lives there. A CR misdemeanor, probate file, or guardianship matter usually starts with the County Clerk. That office also keeps land, vital, Commissioners Court, and other official records. None of those are the court docket.
Requests move fastest when they name the court, case number, filing date range, document type, and copy format. Say whether you want inspection, a plain copy, an electronic file, or certification. A vague name-only request can land at the wrong office and drag out the wait. Accepting lawful redaction lets staff release the public portion. Add an email address and phone number for questions. Include the number of copies and your delivery preference. Ask if an online image already exists or if the file sits in offsite storage.
County administrative documents go through the county open-records route. An actual case file goes through the clerk and the court rules governing that file. Judicial records outside a case may fall under Texas Rule 12. That rule has its own appeal route when denied. Getting a pleading or order, though, stays a case-record question.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
The Kerr County courts directory links each setting list separately. District lists span jury trials and show cause. Attorney general matters, civil and family settings, sentencing, jail events, and arraignment appear there too. County Court at Law posts its own lists. They cover arraignment, bench trial, motions, jail, jury, pretrial, sentencing, and show-cause settings. Probate and guardianship stand alone.
A PDF can predate a continuance, plea, dismissal, or venue change. Check the court heading and event type first, then confirm with the coordinator. The full Kerr County court date reference walks through each list. It shows what resets can do.
Kerr County Docket Venue Changes
Severe flooding shut the Kerr County courthouse to the public in July 2026. Court operations moved elsewhere. By September 3, the District Clerk was sending visitors to the Hill Country Youth Event Center at 3785 Texas Highway 27. County Court at Law misdemeanor hearings were held there too. Some district settings might land at JP2, in Bandera County, in Gillespie County, or at another site the court announces.
The County Clerk announced a September 2 return to Suite 122 at 700 Main Street, though construction could still limit entry. An older docket entry may list an old address. A quick call before travel saves a wasted trip.
Verify the venue: District Clerk 830-792-2281; district questions 830-792-2290; County Court at Law questions 830-792-2207.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Texas does not treat every record alike. Case records and administrative records follow separate rules. Common law, statutes, and court rules govern access to case files. The clerk administers them day to day. Judicial records outside ordinary case files fall under Texas Rule 12. The Texas Public Information Act covers many county administrative records, yet it will not unlock every court filing.
Key rules:
Texas Rule 12 policy explains non-case judicial records and the case-file distinction.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a governs court-record sealing.
Texas Family Code Chapter 58 protects juvenile information.
Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A provides the expunction framework.
Indexes leave out sealed, expunged, juvenile, protected, or non-digitized material. A Kerr County case can exist even so. For a specific document, ask the right clerk.
Kerr County Docket Portals Compared
Kerr County gives you two main search routes, and they answer different questions. The county portal, Odyssey, handles local criminal records plus civil, family, and probate categories filed in Kerr County. re:SearchTX works statewide. It offers case, filing, text, and hearing searches across participating Texas courts. It shines for civil, family, and probate discovery. Filters can narrow by location, category, case type, party, attorney, judge, date range, and sort order. A hearing search targets settings. A filing search hunts one instrument.
Criminal records do not flow into the statewide repository. Texas Judicial Council reporting excludes them. For Kerr County felony or misdemeanor cases, go back to Odyssey and the proper clerk. Registration may rely on eFileTexas credentials. The index itself can be free while images cost money. A 2024 Judicial Council report described charges of ten cents per page, capped at six dollars per document. Some documents are free or open to parties. Live terms control at checkout, so confirm them before you pay.
Alerts are a separate matter. Kerr County's integration schedule sets expectations. State materials tied counties under 60,000 people to a November 2025 deadline. A July 2026 FAQ reported that integrated civil and family notices had begun. Self-represented parties were not yet getting automated notices. Finding a case online never promises an email when its docket changes.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
Split your request by court. The District Clerk holds district filings; the County Clerk holds county misdemeanors, probate, guardianship, and assigned county-court records. Either office can tell you whether a file sits online, whether a search fee applies, and whether certification is needed. Certification proves the copy came from the clerk, not that every claim in the filing is true.

Kerr County Court Record Copy Costs
County Clerk materials list a plain copy at $1 per page. A certified copy runs $5 plus $1 per page. Fax or email delivery costs $2. Without a cause number, a $5 probate search fee may apply. District materials use similar working figures, and the fee schedule covering 2025 to 2026 controls. A downloaded image is not a certified copy. When a bank, title office, or another court needs formal proof, ask that recipient which form it accepts before you order.
| Service | Working amount | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Plain copy | $1 per page | Page count and custodian |
| Certified copy | $5 plus $1 per page | Document to certify |
| Fax or email | $2 | Transmission and copy fees |
| Probate search | $5 may apply | Person on file and date details |
Paying by card can add vendor and clerk charges on top of copy fees. The District Clerk identifies CertifiedPayments Bureau 3580138. It lists a three percent card charge with a two-dollar minimum, plus a two-dollar clerk administrative fee. Those costs are separate from copy fees. Before sending funds, ask for the exact total, the accepted payment method, and any effect on a pending setting.

The official county home page is the source for this view of county navigation.

The official government page controls the details. Notices, docket links, and temporary office locations shift over time.
Kerr County publishes its courts by category rather than as one universal calendar. Start with the court type. Then find its current docket or clerk route from there.
Kerr County Court Dockets by City
Kerr County contains two incorporated cities here. Kerrville and Ingram each run a municipal court for city traffic, ordinance, and Class C cases. A city citation starts in that court. Sheriff or state-trooper tickets usually belong to the justice precinct printed on the citation. Everything else follows the county clerk structure.
Kerrville Docket Search
2020 Census: 24,278. The court offers a calendar and citation payment search, but the calendar is not a party index.
Ingram Docket Search
2010 Census: 1,804. The city posts dates and payment routes, but no separate public citation index was located.
Census vintages stay as stated for the counts. Center Point, Hunt, and Mountain Home are not incorporated city pages.
Map and Directions to the Kerr County District Clerk (Hill Country Youth Event Center)
The 198th and 216th District Courts are Kerr County's general-jurisdiction trial courts, and their felony, civil, and family case files are normally kept in Suite 236 of the Kerr County Courthouse at 700 Main Street. A July 2026 flood put more than six feet of water into the courthouse's lower level, and elevator and second-floor repairs are expected to take at least two months, so the District Clerk has moved temporarily to the Hill Country Youth Event Center. Enter through the left side by the "Office" sign, then through the courtroom area.
